Leven Point

Leven Point is situated roughly 20km north of Cape Vidal. It is named after the SS Leven that was captained by Captain Vidal. The sanctuary beacon located here marks the start of your drifts southward along the two reefs here. The shallow ledge is just visible in the photograph and it is here that many a spearo has experienced some fantastic spearing where cuda, snoek, sailfish and wahoo are all encountered. The shallow reef lies in 8m and is a sandstone ledge that is about 15m wide and runs continuously for about 3km down to blue bushes from where it starts to become scattered. The deeper ledge lies a bit further out in 15m and consists of scattered reef. As Leven Point lies in the ST Lucia Marine Reserve it is a gamefish only area although shore anglers are allowed to catch reef fish.
