Jesser Point

Jesser point is the rocky ledge that shelters Sodwana bay from the relentless action of the sea waves. The photo clearly shows the Sodwana river and the beginnings of Quarter Mile Reef leading off Jesser Point. This is the southern most location in the world where coral reefs are found and is what makes Sodwana Bay unique. The rich diversity of sea life found here places Sodwana Bay as one of the top dive destinations in the world. Most of the reefs in the area are named for their distance from Jesser Point. Examples are: quarter mile, two mile, five mile, seven mile, nine mile. The outside edge of Jesser Point can be a good spot for big kingfish early morning and late afternoon, and I have even shot some garrick here.
